Ceredigion Coastal Path

Ceredigion Coastal Path – Part 1

Over the summer we will be walking the Ceredigion Coast Path in sections, part of the Wales costal path, followed by a short blog posts.

The Ceredigion Coastal path starts at Cardigan and ends at Ynyslas but we decided to extend the walk to Machynlleth to ensure we had covered all of Ceredigion! We chose to walk North to south Though the additional section is mainly inland due to the Dyfi estuary, it made interesting walking, albeit a long walk of 15 miles.

Section 1 – Machynlleth to Borth 15 miles – 11/07/16

The weather forecast wasn’t looking good with heavy rain and wind forecast for the morning. We started by catching the train from Borth to Machynlleth and arrived to rain falling, but luckily it cleared shortly after we started walking.

After a hearty breakfast we set off out of Machynlleth following the Roman steps and headed up the ridge of hills heading out to the coastline. The walk affords views over the Dyfi estuary where we also kept an eye out for Ospreys as passing above the Dovey Osprey Project.

The route eventually drops down to Tre’r ddôl where we enjoyed a cup of tea and slice of cake at the community cafe and shop then onto the flat footpath through Cors Fochno into Borth where we finished the day with fish and chips.
